Spectacular views across the Severn Valley over to the Forest of Dean, and even better if you climb the stairs inside the tower , take a little picnic and a drink and sit and watch the sunset ,highly recommended
Parking is a bit of an issue & you need to get your walking boots on, it's a bit of a climb and muddy in places but the reward from the top is spectacular. 120 steps up to the top if you have any energy left.
The tower was open but my legs were so sore I didn't bother going up. The views would have been magnificent! We had walked a long way and was so impressed with the tower as it came into view. The history surrounding William Tyndale is comprehensive, amazing that it has been kept to this day.
It's a fun walk up a steepish bridleway from the road. We parked at the grave yard. Takes roughly 15-20mins and is absolutely breathtaking on a good day. The cherry on the cake is you can go up the monument and get great views too. Be aware, it's a long way up for little ones!
It's a bit of a walk up the hill, but well worth the effort!
Enjoy the little hike from civic center all the way up to the monument. Would be nicer during summer waking in the woods. Great view at the top, able to see Avonmouth, Serven River and Bridges to Wales.
