An underground network of passages, chambers and tunnels, built by a 19th-century philanthropist.
Great place to visit in Liverpool. Place of historical significance to the area. Tour guide was very informative and passionate about sharing the history of the place. Volunteers continue to dig with new discoveries. When we went, there was a group of people who had worked in the area but were only visiting the tunnels for the first time. The atmosphere was vibrant with typical Liverpool hospitality. Good place to visit. There is free parking in the area. Worth a visit.
Fascinating. The tunnels get no funding at all, our enthusiastic tour guide was a volunteer. You don't get to see that much of the tunnels but it's well worth the PS5, for the 45 minute tour.
Fascinating tour by a volunteer guide who clearly loved the history behind the tunnels. She brought the tour to life. It's a pity they aren't in receipt of major funding and they should charge more. Williamson's model of philanthropy needs to be applied today making needy people feel worthy and providing them with skills through paid work.
Very entertaining guide (Billy), and a fascinating, if brief, insight into a little known and philanthropic entrepreneur. The tunnels are amazing.
Really good tour, in the begging me and my family didn't put a lot of faith on it, but after we did it... it's amazing!! The history is so interesting and captured you from the start. Also, the guide is an amazing guy.
Good guide but you hardly see any of the tunnels. Mostly just informative. If they want to make this a good tourist or otherwise destination in the future they need to do a lot more work to make more of the tunnels part of the tour. It has a lot of potential but there is still a long way to go. Hopefully it can be a good place to go in the future.
