Since 1938, Windmill Animal Farm has been the Slinger Family's residence. Originally, we operated as dairy, cattle, and sheep farmers, delivering fresh milk to our local villagers. In 1990, during a family holiday in Wales, we explored a farm visitor attraction, returning home brimming with ideas. Consequently, on the 1st of August 1992, we opened our gates to the public. Presently, our farm boasts an incredible array of rare breed and exotic farm animals, along with top-notch indoor and outdoor play areas in Lancashire. Windmill Farm has provided four generations of family farmyard enjoyment, and now, we're eager to share it all with you. Come and immerse yourself in the daily workings of our farm. We hope to see you soon.
This is a great place to take children as it is educational for them, too, including easy read information and lots of play areas. Staff are really friendly and informative. We fed lambs with a bottle. Reptile house is great as you can touch snakes and lizzards if you wish.
What an unforgettable day at Windmill Animal Farm! Today, we had the most amazing time with our family at this fantastic farm in Burscough. Our son took a huge step and overcame his fear of critters--he even held some massive snakes! It was incredible to see him so brave and proud. From goats , sheep , alpacas , and cows to guinea pigs , rabbits , geckos , chickens , and so many more, the kids were in awe of all the animals. The train ride was a highlight, and the pure joy on their faces was priceless. And let's not forget the delicious ice cream --the perfect treat on such a gorgeous day! Our children, who are on the autism spectrum and have ADHD and sensory processing disorder, had an absolute blast. Windmill Animal Farm really knows how to make every child feel welcome and included. We can't wait to go back! #WindmillAnimalFarm #FamilyDayOut #AutismAwareness #ADHDAwareness #SensoryProcessingDisorder #OvercomingFears #BraveKids #AnimalLovers #InclusionMatters #SpecialNeedsParenting #AutismFamily #FarmLife #SensoryFriendly #Burscough #OutdoorFun #TrainRides #AnimalsOfInstagram #KidsAndAnimals #AutismSupport #ADHDSupport #ParentingJourney #FamilyFun #GreatDayOut #SensoryPlay #JobsAGudden See Our Own Video - https://youtu.be/Vp8LwmVqjJ4
We had a lovely day here with my 3 year old. Car parking is free (bring wellies in wet weather!) and the entry process quick. We fed the lambs milk, the animals food, and held guinea pigs. Plenty of reptiles to see too. There is a soft play area for under 4s, in the cafe, and the food itself was very tasty. Plenty of small attractions for younger children, which you need to pay for separately and a small gift shop too. We will return again.
A lovely farm with a really nice play area. A perfect kids friendly animal farm. I just wish there were more varieties of animals. There is a lovely little area to play with guinea pigs.
It's been a while since I visited here with my eldest grandchild and it's still as good. My youngest grandchild loved it. We arrived as soon as it opened so we could see everything before it got too busy. Will definitely be back again.
Quite pricey for what didn't turn out to be a full day's activities. Enjoyed nevertheless and the brilliant weather
