Windy Hill is a scenic viewpoint in Renfrewshire, Scotland, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the distant Glasgow cityscape. On a clear day, visitors can see as far as the Campsie Fells and the Trossachs National Park. The hill is also home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, rabbits, and deer, making it a popular spot for nature lovers and photographers.
It is a single traffic for road leading to the park. The distance from the carpark to the top of windy hill is about 30 to 40 minutes walk. Go through various landscape. Suitable place for mountain lover. However the final part of the road to the top is rather smelly, full of sheep manure, a put off at the end of the journey. If you can put up with the smell, it is still a rather pleasant journey near the top.
Muirshiel country park is a beautiful part of Scotland to explore. Plenty of parking spaces beside the start of the walk up to Windy Hill. The walk is quite short but it is worth it as the views at the cairn are great. The path leading up to the cairn is well sign posted with a decent path also until you reach top of the first hill climb. The path was missing some wooden sections after the first hill climb and it was quite a wet day so parts where flooded but I managed to keep my feet dry by balancing on wooden beams thankfully. I would recommend bringing a pair of wellies if it has been raining before you venture up Windy Hill. There are a few benches on route to sit and look at the beautiful views of the forest.
Short but lovely walk. Just be careful where you sit at the summit, lots of sheep presents.
Good parking at centre. Easy walk and decent path until the bottom of hill, then a grass or rock gradual assent but nothing too difficult. They have worked a lot on the path and improved it. Views at the top are great and yes the name windy hill is accurate. Good walk for the family.
Lovely day for walking up to cairn on Windyhill. Then we walked up to the mine. Great views.
Suitable for sledding down even with no snow.
