I discovered this reserve on a run in Mid February on a very windy, grey early morning. I saw only one other person and in those conditions the scenery and atmosphere were dramatic, captured perfectly in a quote by Hardy on the visitor's board
Just got back from walking the dogs at Winfrith. It was beautiful up there, the sunrise was stunning and the early morning light was fantastic.
Small but beautiful nature reserve. Lovely bit of the once extensive Dorset heath. Watch out for adders in the summer! Take care parking as there isn't much so don't block junctions and entrances.
Great place for personal reasons! I like to come here to meditate and be at one with nature and its a beautiful place to go if you want to clear your head or walk your dog!
Wow, what a stunning place. Reminded us of the moors in Sherlock Holmes, the Jeremy Brett ones. Only had ti.e for a short walk, want to explore it some more. The energy is so calming.
Quiet and unspoilt with plenty of small tracks and pathways.
Good for kids
Dogs allowed
