This woodland reserve features a mix of ancient and modern woodland, with a variety of tree species including oak, beech, and silver birch. The woods are home to a range of wildlife, including badgers, foxes, and various bird species. A network of walking trails, including the Sussex Border Path, crisscross the reserve, offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside. The woods are also dotted with interesting features, such as a 19th-century icehouse and a old dew pond.
Special place to walk the dogs or just to wander around on your own. Glorious in Springtime great place to listen to the dawn chorus! Bluebells in the woods and home to a wonderful Lilac tree collection. Nearest cafe on Woodbourne Rd also a post office.
A nice place to visit with children, but sadly in disrepair. Also no bins, not even for dog poo. As a result there are a fair few deposits to keep an eye out for! Shame it's not getting the investment it deserves.
Just a short walk from Preston Park Station up a path by the side of the main railway line, then over a bridge and into the woodland. A pretty little oasis in almost central Brighton. The Buzzards love it here too- there were a number of them calling to each other over the valley. Would have given it 5 stars but currently busy with dogs and their owners due to "lockdown"
Don't bother coming or you'll regret it. The place is tiny, you can constantly see the football pitch next to the "woods". It's so small that it shouldn't even be called "woods". If you want a nice experience being in the nature, this is not what you're looking for.
This can be a challenging walk, with narrow paths and steep slopes, but if you fancy something more engaging than 'a walk in the park', it's a lovely secluded oasis in suburbia
Withdean in Brighton UK where you can see Bart Simpson in his sleeping bag.
