This 19th-century lighthouse stands 39 meters tall, its red and white striped tower guiding mariners safely into the Humber Estuary. The adjacent museum showcases the maritime history of the area, with exhibits on lighthouse keepers, shipwrecks, and the importance of the estuary to the local economy.
Absolutely amazing experience. Worth every penny. Interesting museum and the climb to the top was amazing. Maybe not so good for people scared of heights obviously and the final climb may be tricky for the slightly infirm. Nice cafe at the back in a sweet little garden. Staff are great too.
Lovely lighthouse. Reasinably priced. Certificate for those who make it up to the top. Great views and got the bonus of seeing planes flying along the coast whilst up there! Nice small museum and garden to the rear. Puffin from the trail a bonus find!
'HIGH LIGHT' OF MY VISIT! The lighthouse is amazing- nearly fell over just looking up at it! No time to go up but stopped in tearoom for a bargain pot of peppermint tea and scone with jam, choice of three, and cream and sat in a lovely sunny garden, with trees and a gazebo if you wanted shade. Lots of info in museum and tearoom. Well worth a visit, I will be back.
Lovely visit to the Lighthouse Museum! Very nice people who runs the place! The cafe also was lovely during summer! Such a great place! PS: The view at the top of the lighthouse is amazing!
Lovely place to see... Visit this inland light house at Withersnsea on the east coast. There is a small fee to climb the 144 steps and a small ladder to the top where you can see lovely views all around. The tea room and gardens are free to enter. The menu is limited, but prices are very reasonable, and there is a choice of white or brown bread sandwiches, which seems rare these days. I would recommend calling in for at least a pot of tea to soak up the lovely, friendly atmosphere.
