Displays tell the story of Woodbridge and its surrounding area, focusing on the lives of a selection of local people from Tudor times to the present day. Thomas Seckford and the Lockwoods have left us a legacy that includes some of the town's most iconic buildings. The artist Thomas Churchyard and the surveyor Isaac Johnson have drawn, painted and measured the landscapes of two centuries ago. All tell their stories, as do the river pilots, the ferrymen and the boat-builders. Not to be forgotten, press reports from 1939 tell the world-famous story of the dig at Edith Pretty's Sutton Hoo estate, just across the river from Woodbridge. The museum is usually open every weekday during school holidays as well as the normal opening times.
Interesting small museum showing how the town and surrounding area grow over the years. Plus information on historical events and finds. Set by the estuary and around the refurbished dockyards.
Visited here a few weeks ago and was impressed by the masses of knowledge gained and items on show. Didn't buy anything from the shop, but make a donation online. One thing found out since, is there is no online shop, which I think may generate more funds for the charity as I would have ordered something.
We popped in to have a look as next to the Longshed. Free to enter but you can donate. The man at the entrance was very welcoming, spent about 20 minutes having a look
Small but perfectly formed. Learn about the local history and people. A great introduction to Woodbridge!
Very interesting small museum of local intetest. Well worth a visit, it's free, and staff are very knowledgeable.
