The World War I Memorial is a poignant tribute to the millions of lives lost during the Great War. Located in the United Kingdom, this memorial stands as a solemn reminder of the devastating conflict that ravaged Europe from 1914 to 1918. The memorial's design is a masterclass in understated elegance, featuring a simple yet powerful combination of stone, bronze, and verdant surroundings. A large stone pedestal supports a bronze sculpture of a soldier, his weary eyes cast downward, conveying the emotional toll of war. The pedestal itself is inscribed with the names of the Allied nations, while the surrounding grounds are landscaped to evoke a sense of peace and contemplation. Visitors can wander the memorial's walkways, taking in the somber beauty of the surroundings and paying their respects to the fallen heroes of World War I.
Lacock is a most charming little village in Wiltshire, and with its Abbey , this is a must visit for any tourists . The World War 1 memorial is situated in the village and is well worth a visit whilst exploring the village. There is great history here one of which is that it is the birthplace of photography. For Harry Potter fans the Abbey has been used for Hogwarts. Note to visit the Abbey it is National Trust and there is an entrance fee unless a NT member
Amazing place to visit and look at. War memorials always have a special atmosphere, a the setting was perfect for it; easily accessible & peaceful. The area was very quiet so it's a lovely place to visit if you're think about passed loved ones or those that fought for our country. There were fresh flowers when we passed by so it had been wonderfully maintained and treated with absolute care & pride.
Exactly what the name suggests.. the town's war memorial which is impeccably maintained but often overlooked by visitors looking for the Harry potter sites around town
Beautifully maintained.
In dit land blijft de herinnering in leven voor de gevallenen. Ook van vroege oorlogen. Zodat we nooit voorbij gaan aan onze vrijheid.
Schones Fotomotiv. Erinnert an die Gefallenen im 1. Weltkrieg
Good for kids
