We are a nature reserve managed by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. We are a charity, so all income we receive from the admissions, gift shop and cafe go straight back into funding the work we do to ensure wildlife has a top quality habitat, but that we are also a nice place to visit for visitors. Admissions Prices : Wildlife Trust Members: Free Adults: PS5 Aged 18 and under: Free Student / Disabled / Universal or Pension Credit: PS4 There are 14 wildlife watching hides around the reserve with 7 miles of paths, so it is a big area to explore. There are some wilder paths and some paved paths, so there are accessible routes for everyone. Retailer of Binoculars and Spotting Scopes from Opticron, Kowa and Swarovski.
Really lovely place to go and see nature. Lots of hides to watch the birds and its a big place so never feels crowded. Activities for the older children during school holidays and all but 1 of the main paths were wheelchair and pram accessible. Complete hidden gem!
A very good nature reserve with wetlands, bird watching huts, wooden sculptures and a cafe. We visited in the first week of September and there were mosquitos, when the greeter introduced us with a paper map, she mentioned where the mosquitos live and how to avoid them.
Our first visit yesterday and we were very pleased with the welcome we received for all the staff plus the help we received from fellow members and advice the best places to visit. The cafe pit stop was excellent plus the toilets are excellent, thank you, we will return.
Lovely walk although we didn't see a lot of animals. Cafe was nice. Impressed they had oat milk and vegan Bakewell tart on menu. Think PS5 each a bit much but overall enjoyed this place.
We love Potteric Carr Nature Reserve; there are plenty of trails, all pretty easy, very scenic and peaceful despite a busy carpark, and we always see some animals when we visit, namely birds and squirrels, though today we did see a fox. It's such a peaceful place and it's a part of our new year's tradition, as in, we walk into the new year whilst we walk around the reserve. Not a great place for kids who do not enjoy walking so either bring your pushchair or bring a hearty, walk-loving kid(s).
Beautiful nature reserve with lots of different trails. Friendly staff and lovely food too. Definitely worth a visit.
