We operate steam and diesel days from March through to September. Also Halloween, Santa and other special events Please check website or Facebook for details of when we are open! Attractions on Steam & Diesel Days usually include a Miniature Railway, Model Railway, Shop & light refreshments. But check as these do vary from time to time and also include additional features! Our Shop is open Sundays 10am to noon and longer during events (not Halloween or over Christmas and New Year). We occasionally host main line steam visits when we use our turntable, coaling and other facilities with visitors able to get up close to the action. Driver Experience is also offered by pre-booking only. See website or email for details.
We've visited three times, all in December, for the Santa Special Such a sweet Santa train experience. Lovely, friendly ladies and gentlemen run these events. It's ever so quaint, their displays and festive boards and signs hold a nostalgic feeling. There's a room with the model railway that's really great for young and old. The main room after the train ride house's a play/dance area, festive displays, lights, music, raffle, refreshment area and, of course, Santa's grotto! Our two are nearly 8 and 10, they loved it all including the falling snow and snowballs! We won a prize in the raffle after our cuppa and mince pie this year too!
We came to do steam rides and meet paw patrol. Staff fantastic and very knowledgeable and really friendly!. Nothings to much trouble smiley and friendly. everything was very close so no need to walk for ages. Clean and tidy. Engines look beautiful. Shop a real treat for the real enthusiast. Model train display was brilliant Lovely time Just update we have been to the santa special and easter to meet Peter rabbit any event they hold here we have the best time!
A real hidden gem. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit which included some excellent model railway layouts being exhibited, which was the reason for our visit. An excellent brew in the tea shop and very good value breakfast - we didn't try as we're vegetarian - but monetary wise (PS7.50) it seemed very good.
Although fairly local I had never been until today. Steam train was running today as well as turntable. Workshop, museum and model rail also open. Volunteer run all keen to share their knowledge.
Very interesting centre for tourists and train enthusiasts with some entertaining attractions and lots of information on Yeovil railway history and some Somerset railway history, would recommend visiting
