Ynysypandy Slate Mill is a 19th-century slate mill located in the village of Ynysypandy, Wales, UK. The mill was built in 1856 and operated until 1939, producing high-quality slate products for the construction industry. Today, the mill stands as a testament to the region's industrial heritage, featuring a collection of preserved buildings, machinery, and artifacts. Visitors can explore the mill's interior, which includes a waterwheel, crushing machinery, and a vast array of slate-working tools. The mill's picturesque surroundings, nestled in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, add to its charm, making it a unique and fascinating historical attraction.
No need for booking, recommend using maps to find the mill. Opportunity for some very dramatic photos! Lovely walks around the area.
Amazing place to visit! I'm a 3rd year interior design student and so happy that I've chosen this building for my signature project
Very interesting to visit if you like old, tumbledown buildings. Peaceful with a lovely steam and waterfall next to it. Lots of freedom to look around. Absolutely no parking to speak of so please don't park in the passing place right opposite - don't made life difficult! There's more space a little on down the road, it's a tiny walk to get there but much safer!
What an interesting ruin, in great condition and totally amazing that there's no signboards at all to tell you more about its history or of the hard working people that worked there. What a shame! The building is huge and it's foundations are of the largest cut rocks, how did they get these into place? There is no where to park, just one spot along the lane outside a farmers gate. It would be best to look on Google for a spot if you come this way.
Sadly no information boards, and just an empty shell of the original building, with no roof nor inner floors. Very well preserved stonework. Not much for children but worth a 15 mins view if you are nearby...
