An award-winning museum for the whole family. Walk down our recreated Victorian street, visit York Castle Prison and swing back to The Sixties.
We had a very enjoyable visit and spent 3 1/2hrs looking around, we could've easily taken more. All of the exhibitions are great, but a special mention for the Kirkgate, it's something special and a really authentic experience. The only disappointment was a couple of the projectors in the jail were faulty.
We love York Castle Museum. You can spend hours in there, absolutely great value for money. We especially liked the Victorian street and the prison displays. There was a female member of staff on the Victorian street and she was absolutely lovely. She was a fountain of knowledge and allowed my son photos with her. We enjoyed the interactive machines that could be used also. Absolutely recommend and will return. The cafe in the museum is reasonably priced with lovely drinks and cakes. We didn't eat so I can't comment on the food available. Lovely day, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Had a lovely afternoon out in this museum yesterday. Such an interesting collection of items to see. I loved the way the museum took you on a journey and the variety of areas to see - I particularly liked the shops. On arriving home I had a look at the pictures Id taken and found a really weird one! I find dolls scary at best if times but look like there are monks hovering below the doll on top right shelf I suspect it was probably a reflection on people behind me but don't recall seeing anyone ! X
Thoroughly enjoyed stepping back in time. Loved the cobble street and set up of shops. Very enjoyable hour. Enjoyed walking to the mill outside too. Very helpful friendly staff. Been back again with free entry for 12 months. A lot better and changed around which was a good. More new sections and interactive displays.
Wow this was so so good! I took my three girls and they interacted with every single part. Lots of dressing up, learning, there is an outside part with games! We got awesome photos and your ticket lasts a full year. Really recommend
We had a fantastic time today with my wife and youngest daughter. There was so much to see and do . It's definitely well worth a visit. The highlight of the visit was one of your team members ( Yaz ) who was very knowledgeable of everything. A credit to the overall experience of the visit. Please pass on our kind comments to them.
