One of the UK's largest independent aviation museums, on the former site of RAF Elvington, a World War II bomber base. We are open seven days a week, are 90% accessible, have a shop & cafe and are dog friendly. Tickets can be pre-booked online or bought at admissions and most offer free re-entry for twelve months - proof of id required.
An extremely impressive museum with an excellent collection of aircraft. I know from my own experience how much effort is required to restore and maintain the exhibition objects. I was even more impressed by the recently excellently restored aircraft. The staff was also very friendly. We arrived on motorbikes on a very warm day and were allowed to store our equipment in a storage room for the duration of the visit. Thank you for that! I can highly recommend a visit to the museum!
Great place to visit. The husband did a tour of the Halifax plane as it was sentimental to him (his grandfather was a rear gunner in a Halifax in ww2). The tour guide was absolutely fantastic and very knowledgeable. He took the time to answer any questions we all had and told us things we would never have known otherwise. Would 100% recommend it. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. It's just an all-around great place to visit and honour everyone that fought for our freedoms.
Such a lovely well kept piece of history. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the information on display of the airmen and women who served as well as information about WW2 here is very good. There is a wide selection of planes to see along with information is really good. It's a great price too, we were there for two hours but could have spent longer. Delicious cake (cherry bakewell) and coffee in a friendly cafe rounded the afternoon off. And dogs are welcome everywhere on site too. Well worth a visit.

Great place to visit for the day. Plenty to see and do lots of volunteers help make the day an interesting one. There is a cafe for tea or a bit of lunch and a play area for the kids. The best part is, once you get your tickets they will last a full year. So you can return time and time again.
Relatively Small aircraft museum. Quite a few post war jets . I actually went to see the Halifax as it's the only one in Europe. Had a sandwich and coffee in the cafe which was about PS10. The staff and volunteers are very helpful. It could probably do with some more Audio visual exhibits . Overall pretty good half a day should be sufficient.
